Industry Visit 04
Name of Industry: EdGAte Technologies, Bangalore
Date of Visit: 19-21 Feb. 2020.
Class: T. Y. B. Tech (E&TC)
No. of Students: 55
Faculty Accompanied: Prof. R. T. Patil, Mrs. Mali S.R
Rationale:
In the course of Mixed Mode Controller at T.Y.B.Tech (E&TC), students learn theoretical as well as practical concepts of Microcontroller from Texas Instruments. In order to gain the real time practical exposure and design Industrial products using TI MSP430 controller , the visit to Industrial/commercial facility is required to be organised.
Objectives of Visit:
Observations:
Texas Instruments' MSP430™ Family of ultra-low power microcontrollers (MCUs) includes several devices featuring different sets of peripherals for various applications. TI's MSP430 features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that attribute to maximum code efficiency. The digitally controlled oscillator allows wake-up from low-power mode to active mode in
less than 6µS.
The MSP430™ 16-bit microcontroller platform of ultra-low power RISC mixed-signal microprocessors from TI provides the ultimate solution for a wide range of low power and portable applications. TI provides robust design support for the MSP430 16-bit MCU, including technical documents, training, tools, and software.
Embedded Systems are found in every walk of life. We find them in buildings, farms, homes and cars. There are wearable systems that are embedded into shoes and clothing. There is medical electronic equipment implanted inside human bodies. An embedded system requires sensors to convert physical quantities such as sound, light, humidity or pressure into analog electrical signals. An analog frontend interface conditions these signals and converts them into digital form. An embedded processor handles these digital signals, extracting information from them and converting the information into other usable forms. An analog backend interface converts the processed digital signals into analog signals that can drive an external appliance such as a motor. A majority of embedded systems are battery- driven and need circuits for power and battery management.
Texas Instruments Incorporated designs and manufactures analog technologies, digital signal processing (DSP) and microcontroller (MCU) semiconductors. TI is a leader in semiconductor solutions for analog and digital embedded and applications processing. TI 16-bit MSP430™ microcontrollers (MCUs) provide affordable solutions for all applications. Our leadership in integrated precision analog enables designers to enhance system performance and lower system costs. The world has become more automated , factories, and homes are becoming more intelligent to keep us connected. Our family of MSP430 MCUs offers a broad and affordable portfolio of products to solve today’s increasing and diverse MCU design challenges.
Industry Visit 05
Venue: KRCL, Karwar
Dates: 11th & 12th October 2019
The KRCL, Karwar is a konkan railway office operated by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, headquartered at CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The first passenger train ran on Konkan railway tracks on 20 March 1993 between Udupi and Mangalore. During its initial years of operation in the mountainous Konkan region, a spate of accidents prompted Konkan Railway to implement new technologies. The anti-collision devices, the Sky Bus and RORO are a few of the innovations from Konkan Railway. The 741 km (461 mi) line connects Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka states in India. The first train on the completed track was flagged off on January 26, 1998.
Experience:
In KRCl, students got information about Railway signalling, OFC cables used for it, structure, splicing of OFC, maintenance of OFC cables and signalling part, etc.
They had shown process of OFC maintenance, troubleshooting signalling path, working of exact signalling of trains, cutting & splicing of OFC, etc.
Industry Visit 06
Name of Industry: All India Radio, High Power Transmitter, Bambolim, Goa
Date of Visit: 4th October 2019.
Class: S.Y.B.Tech (E&TC)
No. of Students: 50
Faculty Accompanied: Prof. M.R.Jadhav , Prof. R.J.Patil, Ms. Snehal Shinde
Rationale: In the course of Analog Communication at S.Y.B.Tech (E&TC), students learn theoretical concepts of amplitude and Frequency Modulation. In order to gain the real time practical exposure, the visit to Industrial/commercial facility is required to be organised.
Objectives of Visit:
Observations:
Amplitude modulation is widely used technique for broadcasting purpose. The AM broadcasting has become commercially competitive market in entertainment segment. Students have learned about two sections – 1) Short wave transmission. 2) Medium wave transmission.
In short wave transmission AM generation is done by using VALVE. Here, Strength of input signal is 150 KWatt . In this section, the signal is received from Delhi studio, which is received by receiving antenna at station after receiving this signal, it undergoes coding and decoding and then it is transmitted to respective places through transmitting antennas. The Broadcasting is for South eastern countries and Indian states also.
Vividh Bharati is a part of AM broadcasting systems in which system is subjected to 20KWatt power supply and frequency obtained at output is 828KHz . In High Power MW transmission a power of 100KWatt and frequency 1287KHz is used
