1. Technical Seminar to Industry Personal by Automobile Engineering Department

Prof. Dr. S. R. Kumbhar (HoD) and Prof. S. T. Satpute of Automobile Engineering Department conducted Technical Seminar for Employees of Saroj Group of Industries, Kolhapur at Sonai Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Kolhapur on Saturday, 28th Dec. 2019. The topic of the Seminar was “Technology Changes in BSIV to BSVI Emission Norms”. Thirty participants (Engineers, Plant Heads, and Supervisors) attended this seminar. Topics covered were Introduction, Why Emission Norms are so stringent?, Highlights of World Air Quality Report, Measures to Improve Air Quality, What is BS Norms? BS-IV v/s BS-VI, Mechanics of BS-VI, Future of Automobile - The Technology Trends, Engine Technologies - Petrol & Diesel Engines, After treat Technologies – SCR, DPF etc. At the end, questions raised by the participants were answered by the speakers. Feedback received by the participant was very good and participants shared that they learnt the difference between BSIV and BSVI norms and got awareness about the government initiatives, challenges and personal responsibilities in this regard. Initially Mr. Deepak Jadhav (Managing Director) welcomed the speakers. The program was coordinated by Mr. Mahesh Bhuchade (Head - Sourcing).

R.I.T., Rajaramnagar and Saroj Group of Companies, Kolhapur (Four Companies namely: 1. SONAI ENGINEERING PVT.LTD. Foundry Division - Formerly Saroj Iron Industries Unit I; 2. SONAI ENGINEERING PVT.LTD. Machining Division ; 3. SAROJ FOUNDRY PVT.LTD. - Formerly Saroj Iron Industries Unit II, and 4. SAROJ PRECISION COMPONENTS LTD., Shiroli MIDC, Kolhapur have signed Memorandum of nderstanding (MoU) on 18th May 2019.

She visited different laboratories of Automobile Engineering Department and very much delighted to see the well-equipped laboratories.

Mrs. Geeta Hedge (Sr. Divisional Manager) and Mr. Anand Kulkarni (Asst. Manager – Development) of New India Assurance Company Limited, Kolhapur Branch visited Automobile Engineering Laboratories on 19th Oct. 2019. They visited to different laboratories of Automobile Engineering Department and very much delighted to see the well-equipped laboratories.

6. One Day Workshop on “Motor Insurance Practices” on 19th October 2019

Automobile Engineering Department has successfully conducted a One Day Workshop on “Motor Insurance Practices” Under Lead College Scheme of Shivaji University, Kolhapur on 19th October 2019. The resource persons were Mrs. Geeta Hedge (Sr. Divisional Manager) and Mr. Anand Kulkarni (Asst. Manager – Development) of New India Assurance Company Limited, Kolhapur Branch.

7. Visit of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Authority

Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company, Pune Official Mr. Ashwin Hukeri (Sr. Manager – Motor OD Claims) visited R.I.T., Rajaramnagar on 14th May 2019. He visited to different laboratories of Automobile Engineering Department and very much delighted to see the well-equipped laboratories.

8. Visit of MyCar officials to RIT on 13^th April 2019

My Car (Pune) Pvt. Ltd., Officials Mr. Dhananjay Godbole (General manager HR and Admin), Mr. Naseer Maner (General Manager), Mr. Vivek Melkeri (Asst. Works Manager - our proud alumnus of 2011-12 B.Tech. Automobile batch), and Mr. Franscis Kamble (Trainer - Training Dept.) visited alongwith Dr. Pravin Kulkarni to R.I.T., Rajaramnagar on 12th and 13th April 2019. They visited to different laboratories of Automobile Engineering Department and very much delighted to see the well-equipped laboratories.

9. One day workshop on “Systems & Processes in Auto. Ancillary Units: Expectations of Automobile Industry in India”

Automobile Engineering Department has successfully conducted one day workshop on “Systems & Processes in Auto. Ancillary Units: Expectations of Automobile Industry in India” under Lead College Scheme of Shivaji University, Kolhapur on 23rd March 2019. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Suhas Zende, Manager - Ministry of Defence, Mumbai.Mr. Suhas Zende, working as Manager (Planning – East Yard), Submarine Project of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Under Ministry of Defence (A Govt. of India Undertaking), Dockyard Road, Mazagon, Mumbai conducted three sessions in this workshop. First session was on ‘Automobile Industry in India: Expectations’ wherein he explained the processes, systems in auto ancillary sector. He highlighted with examples the concepts like 5S, ISO-2004, ISO-2015, ISO-2018 etc. He also briefed about the selection process in automotive industry. Then in second session he discussed about Quality Management Systems (QMS) in automotive sector - IATF (International Automotive Task Force) standards in line with ISO. He then explained about FIFO (First-In-First-Out) concept being used in industries. He elaborated the concepts like FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) at design and process level with examples. He has shown how to calculate Risk Priority Number (RPN) in FMEA.

10. One day workshop on “Recent Advances in Two Wheelers” for Two Wheeler Mechanics on 1st March 2019.

Automobile Engineering Department has successfully conducted one day workshop on “Recent Advances in Two Wheelers” for Two Wheeler Mechanics on 1st March 2019. This workshop was sponsored by TVS Motors, Pune.Mr. Sachin Kohad illustrated the theory with latest models of TVS motors, followed by practical sessions on various model of TVS by Mr. Shubham Chougule and his team from Sangli. Mr. Dhananjay Thorat, one of our alumni, presently having TVS Motors Dealership in Islampur also helped the workshop by providing TVS models for demonstration.Total 130 garage mechanics were present. The participants were from various places (Total 50 places) like Shirwal, Waduj, Talmawale etc.

11. Visit of The New India Assurance Company delegates on 23^rd October 2018.

The New India Assurance Company’s internship drive for B. Tech. Automobile Engineering students was arranged at RIT on 23rd October 2018. Mr. Chintamani Tamhane (Development Officer) & Mrs. Vaishnavi More (Assistant to DO) had conducted internship drive and selected 7 students.

Indutrial visit was organized from Automobile Engineering Department on 20/10/18 at MSRTC Workshop, Satara . Visit was conducted Under Guidance of Dr. S.R.Kumbhar (Head, Auto. Engg. Dept) and with faculties: Prof. R.M.Shinde and Prof. Y.S.Patil

15. Received cutsection model of Mahindra XUV500 Engine from Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Igatpuri Plant, Nashik at the hands of Hon. Bhagatsinh Patil, Chairman- BOG RIT, Hon. Dr. Mrs. S. S. Kulkarni, Director RIT, and other respected BOG members.

16. Started Post Graduate Diploma course in Electric & Autonomous Vehicles (PGD-EAV). The course will commence in August, 2020. The duration of the program will be one year. Students would be inducted at RIT in the first trimester and then they would study at ARAI in the second trimester. The last trimester will be totally devoted to project work, which is generally sponsored by Automotive Industry or can also be carried out at ARAI or RIT based on student’s interest.

Free online webinar on “Advances and Career Opportunities in Automotive Sector” on 15th September 2021 by Dr. Sumukh Deshpande, Project Leader, Homologation International Markets, Audi AG, Germany and Dr. Sanjay Patil, General Manager, Learning Centre Head, ARAI Pune. Prof. Dr. S. R. Desai coordinated the program.

24. Dr. Raghu Echempati, Professor of Mech. Engineering, Kettering University, MI, USA (Contacted by Dr. S. R. Patil while JEET paper reviewer’s interaction) conducted online expert sessions of “Vehicle Dynamics” course of Final Year B. Tech. and PGD-EAV during month. on topic “Automotive Light weighting and Joining Technologies” for our Third and Final Year Automobile Engineering students. Prof. Shirish S. 25. One Day Workshop on “ASME Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances” Under Lead College Scheme of Shivaji University, Kolhapur and RIT-CTL on 26th February 2022. The resource person was Mr. Anil Kumbhar, Manager, Dana India Technical Centre, Hinjewadi, Pune. Total 52 participants. Prof. Dr. S. R. Kumbhar & Prof. P. S. Patil coordinated the workshop.

26. One Day Workshop on “Motor Vehicle Insurance Practices” Under Lead College Scheme of Shivaji University, Kolhapur on 22nd August 2021. More than 60 students from the third and final year of Automobile/Mechanical engineering attended this workshop and got benefitted. Dr. S. R. Kumbhar coordinated the workshop. Mrs. Geeta Hegde (Sr. D.M., New India Assurance Company, Kolhapur), Mr. Ashwin Hukeri (Sr. Manager, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company, Pune) and Mr. Sunil Mishra (Manager, SBI General Insurance Company, Mumbai), an alumni of B. E. 1996 batch of Automobile Engineering Department conducted the sessions.

27. “Career Guidance” program for 12th standard students of Aarambha Coaching Excellence (ACE), Kolhapur was conducted at RIT on 21^st March 2022. Founder Director of ACE Mr. Ajay Vasagadekar (UG Alumni of Auto. Engg. Dept. of batch 2014-15) along with his colleague and 59 students visited RIT and Automobile Engineering Department. Prof. A. T. Suryawanshi & Prof. Dr. S. R. Kumbhar coordinated the program.
